Roughly fifty automobiles have been marked with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by police.
Automobiles, building surfaces and postal boxes were vandalized, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they reported in a official communication.
Officers say they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a individual discovered that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a reddish liquid.
The fluid had been applied in the shape of a banned symbol, they reported.
Officers then discovered many other marked vehicles and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws outlawing the public display of Nazi-era symbols.
Law enforcement state initial examinations suggest the substance was probably human blood.
"There is still no clue as to its origin; authorities are presently not informed of any physical harm in association with the incident," they commented.
Municipal representatives said they were attempting "to solve the incident" and have appealed to the community for tips.
An important representative said the incident made him stunned and had to be resolved rapidly.
"This event hits the core of Hanau and reopens the pain of the far-right attack half a decade ago," he posted on a platform, recalling the murder of nine people by a assailant focusing on people of migrant background in February 2020.
